I have a nasty, wet cough.


On Thursday/Friday, I was reading a book, and in it, the main character meets a friend he hasn't seen in a while, and the friend has lost both his arms in the war.
And I started thinking about how difficult it would be to lose even one arm. And I had an idea.

"We're going to have to remove the limb."

So I decided to take on my first big writing project.
I am going to be writing a multi-chaptered short story about a young man who has his right arm amputated, and his life thereafter.
I thought of possibilities, but I can't figure out how his arm is wounded.
At first I thought a fire, but he would be rushed to the emergency for something like that, and that's not what happens.
Then I thought gangrene, but that couldn't get bad enough to take his own arm without killing him first.
Maybe a shattered humerus.

Not that you care...?
